THE WILLIAM GLASSER INSTITUTE – CANADA

Scholarship Application Guidelines

Applications for scholarships in Canada are available to individuals and to organizations/chapters closely associated with WGI Canada through provincial representatives, any member of faculty or the Canadian President as of August 1st.

Submissions for review by the Scholarship Committee are to be received by WGI – Canada on or before the deadline dates of March 31, August 31 and December 31 during each fiscal year.

Applications are to be granted by the Scholarship Committee on the basis of need determined by the following criteria:

a)      unemployed

b)      student

c)      extenuating circumstances including part-time or full time employment but demonstrating a need for funding

d)      for organizations/chapters, directly related to spreading the ideas of  Dr.  William Glasser

Applications are to be completed in full and forwarded to the Canadian Region President, who, in turn, will disseminate information to members of the Scholarship Committee.  After the deliberations of the Scholarship Committee, the Chairperson shall contact all applicants to inform them of the status of their applications.

Applicants are reminded that not everyone who applies is eligible and that the allocation of scholarships depends on the monies available each year as well as the number of applications submitted.

Percentage of monies available for scholarships at the deadlines of March 31, August 31 and December 31 are not to exceed 1/3 of the total scholarship budget.   Applications submitted after the deadline dates will be reviewed in light of remaining monies available in the scholarship budget.  The Chairperson shall forward any necessary information and/or documents to the President and Treasurer to complete the process.

All information remains confidential except full accountability to The William Glasser Institute regarding the disbursements of the Glasser Scholarship Fund granted annually to WGI – Canada.  The Treasurer or President at the Annual General Meeting of WGI – Canada will withhold names in the reports.

These guidelines are to be included in the WGI-Canada Newsletters, Canadian faculty, and other members of WGI – Canada.
